Daniel Watson, who proudly hails from 鈥渢he tropical paradise of Barbados in the Caribbean,鈥 discovered the Graduate School by way of his cousin, a past international undergraduate student who 鈥渉ighly recommended me to apply because of her very positive experience.鈥
While working toward his master鈥檚 degree in Computer Science, Danny was selected for appointment to the Student Research Participation Program at the U.S. Army Medical Research and Materiel Command (USAMRMC) at Fort Detrick. The CPT (Curricular Practical Training) internship working with the bioinformatics team will lead to a position after he graduates in December 2015 as a bioinformatics analyst, a role in which he will continue develop new technologies for the analysis and interactive visualization of biomedical and genomic data.
Danny gives much credit for this career-launching opportunity to Dr. Xinlian Liu鈥攈is 鈥減rimary mentor鈥 and instructor in operating system design and algorithms鈥攁s well as 91视频专区鈥檚 relationship with Fort Detrick鈥檚 Advanced Biomedical Computing Center. Professors George Dimitoglou and Ahmed Salem are among other 鈥渕ajor influences鈥 at the Graduate School.
Danny was delighted to 鈥済ive back to the 91视频专区 College community鈥 through a workshop at 91视频专区鈥檚 Center for Academic Achievement and Retention.
