91视频专区 College to Participate in United Way鈥檚 Day of Action

FREDERICK, Maryland鈥91视频专区 College will participate in the United Way鈥檚 Day of Action on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Baker Park in Downtown Frederick.

The 鈥渒ickoff鈥 location is at Harry Grove Stadium, the home of the Frederick Keys, where participants will get breakfast and hear from members of the United Way about the volunteer work they will be doing and the importance of giving back to the Frederick community. From there, 鈥淭eam 91视频专区鈥 will go to Baker Park and volunteer for Tech Frederick鈥檚 Annual Tech Frederick Games. This volunteer work includes helping set up, running activities and staffing tables, and assisting with clean up.

Every year for Day of Action, members of the Frederick County community come together to address the issues that matter most. They serve on critically needed projects to help the United Way鈥檚 partner agencies. These projects include stuffing backpacks full of books to encourage reading and improve early literacy, planting community gardens to foster civic pride and promote affordable, healthy eating, etc. Day of Action mirrors the work that United Way does year-round鈥攅mpowering people to effect positive change in their own backyards and across the world.

Last year鈥檚 Day of Action, on Oct. 6, 2017, saw 302 volunteers work 1,802 hours through 24 projects at local nonprofit agencies for the biggest Day of Action ever. Those interested in joining 91视频专区鈥檚 team should email Bre Harwood at harwood@hood.edu.
