91��Ƶר��

FREDERICK, Maryland—91��Ƶר�� College will participate in the United Way’s Day of Action on Oct. 5 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Baker Park in Downtown Frederick.

The “kickoff” location is at Harry Grove Stadium, the home of the Frederick Keys, where participants will get breakfast and hear from members of the United Way about the volunteer work they will be doing and the importance of giving back to the Frederick community. From there, “Team 91��Ƶר��” will go to Baker Park and volunteer for Tech Frederick’s Annual Tech Frederick Games. This volunteer work includes helping set up, running activities and staffing tables, and assisting with clean up.

Every year for Day of Action, members of the Frederick County community come together to address the issues that matter most. They serve on critically needed projects to help the United Way’s partner agencies. These projects include stuffing backpacks full of books to encourage reading and improve early literacy, planting community gardens to foster civic pride and promote affordable, healthy eating, etc. Day of Action mirrors the work that United Way does year-round—empowering people to effect positive change in their own backyards and across the world.

Last year’s Day of Action, on Oct. 6, 2017, saw 302 volunteers work 1,802 hours through 24 projects at local nonprofit agencies for the biggest Day of Action ever. Those interested in joining 91��Ƶר��’s team should email Bre Harwood at harwood@hood.edu.
