The Daily Record has named member of the 91��Ƶר�� College Board of Trustees and President of Delaplaine Foundation, Inc. Marlene B. Grossnickle Young ’76, P’09, H’14, to its 2022 listing of Maryland’s Top 100 Women. Additionally, Young is one of 11 women who will be inducted into the Circle of Excellence, receiving the award for a third and final time.

Most recently, Marlene, alongside her husband Michael S. Young, gifted to the College a portrait honoring George B. Delaplaine Jr., H’08, recognizing Delaplaine’s longstanding support of the College. The portrait and accompanying plaque now hang in Rosenstock Hall following a dedication ceremony that took place during a board meeting last fall.

Young is also responsible for the Marlene B. Grossnickle Young scholarship, which is awarded annually to students pursuing a degree in business, education, music or the humanities, based on financial need.

Maryland’s Top 100 Women was founded in 1996 to recognize outstanding achievements by women demonstrated through professional accomplishments, community leadership and mentoring. More than 1,700 women have been presented with the honor throughout the years.

Nominees completed an application outlining their educational and career history, professional and community involvement, corporate and nonprofit board memberships, and mentoring experience. They were encouraged to submit letters of recommendation from those who are familiar with their accomplishments professionally, in the community and through mentoring.

A panel of business professionals, previous Maryland’s Top 100 Women honorees from throughout the state and a representative of The Daily Record reviewed the final applications and selected this year’s honorees.

They are inclusive change agents who are not afraid to face adversity and stand up for what they believe,” said Suzanne Fischer-Huettner, senior group publisher of The Daily Record. “Their community impact and commitment to mentoring are outstanding.
